"The most important challenge for ecologists remains to understand the linkages between what is going on at the level of the physiology and behavior of individual organisms and emergent properties such as the productivity and resiliency of ecosystems."

Critters!
Critters! is a model of organisms for the study of evolutionary biology. Critters are born, acquire resources, grow, mate, reproduce, and die in a virtual world. Critters phenotypes and reproduction are based on a chromosomal model allowing students to graph and perform statistics on allele frequencies. Students can explore and learn about natural selection, genetic drift, gene flow, mutation, non-random mating, and the mutation-selection balance.
